Is rim repair actually safe or should I just replace them?
I've got a set of 20-inch alloys on my car and unfortunately one of them has developed a slight bend from hitting a nasty pothole a few weeks ago. I can feel a vibration at highway speeds now and it's really annoying, plus I'm worried it might be affecting my tyre wear too. The thing is these rims were pretty expensive and I really don't want to have to buy a whole new set just because of one damaged wheel. I've been looking into rim repair shops but I'm honestly not sure if it's a safe option or if the repair will just compromise the structural integrity of the wheel. I was doing some research online and found a place that explains the whole process, they said I could learn more about their repair methods and what kind of guarantees they offer. Has anyone here had a bent rim repaired and driven on it for a long time afterwards? I want to know if it actually holds up or if I'll end up having to replace it anyway down the line. I'm also wondering about the cost difference between repairing and replacing because I've heard some shops charge almost as much as a new rim. Really torn on what to do here and would appreciate some honest experiences from people who've been in a similar situation.
