My car's paint is oxidizing badly - is restoration actually worth it?
I've got a 2015 sedan that's been parked outdoors for most of its life here, and honestly the paint has seen better days. The roof and hood have this dull, chalky appearance that no amount of wax seems to fix, and the clear coat is starting to peel in a couple of spots near the edges. I've been going back and forth on whether to bother with paint restoration or just accept that the car is getting old and live with it, but every time I wash it I get reminded of how good it used to look and I start thinking maybe I should do something about it. The thing is, I'm not even sure if restoration is possible at this stage or if we're talking about a full respray, because the oxidation seems pretty deep and I've heard that once the clear coat starts failing, there's not much you can do except repaint. I've been looking at options online and there's a Trusted car paint restoration workshop in Abu Dhabi that seems to have good reviews and apparently they can work miracles with paint that I thought was beyond saving, but I'm skeptical because I've been burned before by places that promise the world and then deliver mediocre results. I'm not expecting my car to look brand new because it's almost ten years old, but if I could get rid of that faded look and bring back some depth to the color, I'd be pretty happy. The other concern I have is whether it's financially sensible to spend a decent amount on paint restoration for a car that's not worth that much anymore, or if I should just save the money and put it towards a newer car in a year or two. Has anyone here had an older car's paint restored and actually been happy with the results long-term, or does it just look good for a few months and then go back to looking tired again? I'd really appreciate some honest opinions from people who've actually done this rather than just listening to the sales pitch from detailers.
